My baby this week-- 9 weeks!

How my baby's growing:

My new resident is nearly an inch long — about the size of a grape — and weighs just a fraction of an ounce. She's (?) starting to look more and more human. Her essential body parts are accounted for, though they'll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months. Other changes abound: my baby's heart finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form — as do her tiny teeth. The embryonic "tail" is completely gone. My baby's organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks. Her eyes are fully formed, but her eyelids are fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. She has tiny earlobes, and her mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct. The placenta is developed enough now to take over most of the critical job of producing hormones. Now that my baby's basic physiology is in place, she's poised for rapid weight gain. Hooray!

I've been pretty tired, and have felt nauseous a bit, and have wreched/dry heaved some BUT overall I've been OK. I've cut my work back by about 10 hours a week for the next 3 weeks to see how I go with that. I just haven't had the time or energy to do anything around the house or cook or make lunch, so hopefully I can play a bit of catch up. I'm still not showing at all. My stomach probably even looks smaller than that first photo! Thanks for your thoughts and prayers...

Smart woman cutting your hours back a bit - hopefully you will find that more doable and not feel too frazzled.

Isn't it exciting to track baby's growth and development in the womb? Its such a miracle.

Glad you are not being horribly sick but sympathy to you for the dry heaves and general nausea.

This stage will pass fairly quickly and don't worry, you will start to look pregnant soon enough.

Stay well, take good care of yourself.

Lots of love,
